Reform chancellor search process
Monday, April 8, 2019
Calvin Mercer’s ideas published in his newsletter about a new process for finding and recruiting a chancellor for ECU resonated w/me.
I retired as associate professor from ECU after 27 years as tenured/tenure track faculty who served on more than a dozen search committees, including one search for chairman of my department.
I am convinced that expensive national searches conducted by pay-per-search agencies can be transformed by a new perspective on how those searches are conducted.
Mercer’s suggestions represent a good place to start developing guidelines for a new process.
