Free health care not free

Loading…

Saturday, April 20, 2019

Big "Teddy Bear" Bernie Sanders has been shouting, "Free medicine for everyone!" because 71 percent of the people in America, according to the polls, favor free health care.

The fact is though that Medicare co-pays, deductibles, and principle payments (part B) fill up the Medicare program and have since its inception. That's why Medicare "Advantage" plans in which private insurance companies take over an individual’s Medicare are thriving.

So what else can you say about those Democratic presidential candidates who not only don't know the first thing about health care in America but furthermore also believe that bribing a FISA judge with fake evidence concerning an American citizen is the judge’s fault if he or she acts upon it!

God forbid that Trump loses in 2020 and we have those mentally disordered folks back in office running our great nation into the ground once again and perhaps forever!

At President Trump’s rally for re-election in Greenville on July 17, he stepped on the toes of the “Squad.” Upon calling out Rep. Ilhan Omar, some folks at the rally started chanting “Send her back.” As I reflected on the event for which my hometown took a…

Following are points of common sense for American society.

Creatively think of ways daily to serve and encourage your fellow man.

Do not wrestle with police when being arrested or point realistic toy guns at police officers.

Do not assume the content of a stranger's character.

Never quote…

From observing the recent Democratic debates, those running for president are delusional, crazy or insane. They are all competing as to who can be the most anti-Christian, anti-American to get the votes from the socialist/communist far left in America.

Democrats had rather give away our tax money…

Why didn't The Daily Reflector’s coverage about the Board of Adjustment hearing about more fraternities/sororities on West Fifth Street mention the Theta Chi fraternity located at Albemarle and West Fifth? Since it opened two years ago, Theta Chi has been a major source of disturbance and…

What if the news read "Breaking News! We have just learned that several grandchildren of the top leaders of the United States have been killed in a mass shooting." Everyone cries, "Something Must Be Done!" My question: Would anything be done then?

I grew up in Baltimore and have visited family there many times. My grandfather was the editor-in-chief of the Baltimore Sun for many years and would be proud of his paper's recent stand against the damaging attack by President Donald Trump against the city and its residents.

It is true that…

In a July 23 op-ed to The Daily Reflector, Rep. Chris Humphrey wrote “I’m ready to talk about health care, but let’s get this budget passed first. It is too important to wait any longer.”

The cost we should be concerned about is lives. This budget serves mostly the top 20…

One of the most controversial and, arguably, most critical issues facing humanity is addressed by the ECU Religious Studies Program when it hosts — for the 27th Distinguished Lecture on Religion and Culture — perhaps the strongest voice of concern about global warming.

As a sixth generation resident of Pitt County and eastern North Carolina and a 30-plus year volunteer for Pitt County Memorial Hospital/Vidant Health Board of Trustees, I am absolutely appalled at the way the State Treasurer and the State Employees Association of NC (SEANC) singled out and…
