Behold: the father of lies is come. (John 8:44)

The Washington Post just announced that Trump has passed the 10,000 mark of provable lies. I have never seen as dishonest a bunch as every member of this administration.

Just look at Attorney General William Barr. He auditioned for his job by writing a 19-page memo that it was his opinion that a sitting president should not be investigated and cannot be indicted. Of course that would get him the job.

As AG, he has acted more as Trump's personal attorney than an impartial administrator of the law. He said under oath that he was not aware that Mueller disagreed with Barr's summary of his investigation, but he did not disclose that Mueller had written a formal letter in March expressing dismay that Barr immediately mischaracterized and misrepresented the “context, nature and substance” of his report. Mueller is livid that Barr misled us.

Barr has repeatedly said the report exonerates Trump of collusion and obstruction of justice when page one of the report (read it) states that since the DOJ guidelines prevent a president from being indicted, and since collusion isn't a legal thing, he was approaching the matter from the standpoint of U.S. conspiracy laws. The report specifically states that if there was evidence exonerating the president, he would state that but he could not. He wrote that the way forward was in the political process, and outlined 10 specific cases of obstruction of justice that could be used in the impeachment process. We are witnessing a blatant cover up in real time, everybody who works for this president taints their credibility going into the future.

In this administration, lying is a prerequisite.

I am neither pro nor con on the abortion issue. There are things in favor of abortion and things that are against abortion. Both arguments have merit. Those who are against abortion have a strong argument which I can agree with. But, on the other hand, women should have the right to decide what…

As Sunday morning arrived, I was anxious to discover what I would encounter at church. The last time I was on the property, it seemed to me, there were 20-30 police cars and sharpshooters crouching behind the trees that line Fire Tower Road. In an email sent to the congregation, I suggested we have…

My spiritual director once told me if your God image is no longer helpful to you, get a new one. I was raised Catholic and loved the church. When I went to college in the 1970s my Catholic education did not prepare me for the realities of history.

When I learned of the church’s complicity in…

I read with considerable interest the Associate Press story by Lindsey Tanner headlined “Deaths from falls …,” on Sunday, June 9, page B2.

In addition to the suggestions she offers, we may also want to consider learning to fall and to practice falling, which in fact are…

Recent flash flooding of downtown vehicles and businesses is, unfortunately, not the first nor last flooding threat to our safety, quality of life and economic development. Fortunately, downtown flooding threats will be alleviated by the massive Town Creek Culvert Project now underway and put in…

I believe, in general, Republican legislators in the state and federal government don't give a darn about the well being of the people. They have recently reduced the regulations on air and water quality, saying that they are too restrictive, and that reducing them is “good enough.”…

The anti-God, anti-American Democrat party is presently working to get back into national power by any means necessary.

Democrats have always been the party of slavery and now they coddle the communist, socialist, Marxist and the Muslims. Put all of the above groups together and you have a force…
