I was afraid of this and last week on White Wednesday in what is now Redville it was confirmed. Some women are actually...

Hypocrisy is alive and well

Wednesday, June 26, 2019

According to my concordance, Christ talked about hypocrites exactly 20 times. And it is the sheer hypocrisy that galls me most about our modern-day elected Republicans, who let Drumpf (his ancestral name) get away with things that would make their heads explode if it was Obama or any Democrat doing or saying those things.

For instance, can you imagine their reaction if Obama said that he could grab a woman by her (genitals) because he was famous? You can google the show, but years ago he said on Howard Stern's show that he used to go backstage in highly restricted areas at the Miss Teen USA pageants to see the naked girls, and he was entitled to because he owned the building and was authorized to “inspect the premises.”

But this letter is about hypocrisy. Can you imagine Republican reactions if Obama said he and brutal North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un were “in love?”

Now after saying there was no collusion repeatedly, he admitted in a recent interview that, sure, he would take information (“dirt” on political opponents) from hostile foreign governments if it helped his ability to hold power at all costs. That is the textbook definition of collusion.

If there was a thief in the neighborhood who robbed neighbors when they were on vacation, and everybody knew who it was, there comes a time to start blaming the 10 neighbors that are his friends, drinks his free drinks and hangs around his fancy pool, knowing where the money came from.

Trump supporters are selling their souls seeing the depths of this man and still accepting him, even empowering him. Any integrity they ever had is gone. Just know Christ is watching.

Tonight is a time to try my soul. I turned on my television around 9 p.m. and was ashamed of my fellow citizens of Pitt County. I heard “send her back” chanted by those citizens. I heard the sounds of hostility in those voices I never believed I could hear from people I might know. I…

The Trump-instigated chant (“Send Her Back”) didn't surprise me, but I am not one who believes this is Greenville's culture. Greenville citizens have always been cordial to me, even the ones who hate my guts.

Trump was proud of himself as he fired up his brain-dead fans and approved the…

In a childhood song, all that the bear that went over the mountain got to see was another mountain. It was my introduction to the sameness of life’s patterns. The steady ticking of the clock, the endless drumbeat of the mundane, and sometimes, the horror that never stops.

This is also true…

David Ransom enlisted in the Continental Army believing in the enlightened concepts of democracy espoused by brilliant men and women in Europe and the colonies. There would be justice through an independent judiciary and a representative legislature that could prevent the recurrence of tyranny.…

I have a confession to make. I was at the president's rally Wednesday night, and when the chant "send them back" broke out, I joined in, with enthusiasm. And I have another confession to make. I do not feel the slightest need to apologize to anyone for doing so. Why should I apologize for…

Here’s a message for all you Pitt Countians and others who attended Wednesday’s Trump rally on the ECU campus, only to disgrace yourselves, the university and the city by mindlessly uttering that crass, misguided and ill-informed chant, “Send her back!” How pathetic! Where…

Why is America great? Because this nation was formed by people who desired to worship their God — the creator of heavens and earth and his son Jesus, our savior, freely and not by a prescribed way mandated by a government. These early Christians made a covenant with God that if he would…

Donald Trump visited Greenville again recently. He must like it a lot ... he certainly gets a warm reception from the rally participants.

I like North Carolina a lot, too, and used to take my vacations in your beautiful coastal towns and spend a fair amount of money in condo rentals,…

I’m a proud native of Pitt County, born at the old Pitt Memorial Hospital in 1967. Tonight, however, I’m angry that a town and community I love would be host to and party to such a disgusting and vile display of bigotry, racism and hatred peddled by the Liar-in-Chief.

July 21, 2019

I am saddened to hear that my hometown has attracted national attention for hosting a rally for the re-election of the president and vice-president.

As a former student at East Carolina University, I’m shocked that the university’s chancellor and board of trustees would sanction an…
