Pirates need patience, loyalty
Wednesday, September 18, 2019
From my distant perspective half-a-world away here in Australia, it seems the ECU Pirate football program began to decline (with respect to Ruff) when Lincoln Riley left for Oklahoma, then went further downhill under Scottie Montgomery the last three years.
Coach Mike Houston obviously has a massive job to do in rebuilding the program, and returning it to where everyone in Pirate Nation wants it to be. Coach Houston isn't a magician. I believe it will take him another year or two to get the type of players best suited to his system, work ethic, and culture, but he will eventually achieve the results he was hired to deliver, because he is a proven winner.
Now is the time for patience. And loyalty.
