Charlotte resident Pat Battaglia, aka Dr. Fun, has authored his fifth book of brain games and teasers, “The Cleverest Brain Games on the Planet.”

Following his pattern of adding unusual features in his books, Battaglia includes an illustration of a character on each puzzle page. Its facial expression and body language reveal the degree of challenge that readers will likely encounter.

Battaglia says the book is for anyone ages 9-90.

“The mental exercises also help to improve memory, concentration and thinking skills,” he said. “The puzzles are tantalizingly challenging and have answers that may elude you at first, but once they are known you’ll be totally amazed to see how incredibly simple and self-evident they were.”

In addition to his books, Battaglia has a newspaper puzzle column that has been in syndication for over 25 years. He is a former rocket scientist who helped develop rockets used in the USA’s space program to get man on the moon.

He also is author of “Are You Smart, or What?, A Bizarre Book of Games & Fun for Everyone,” “Smart Is as Smart Does, Brain Games to Reveal the Genius in You,” “So You Think You’re Smart, 150 Fun and Challenging Brain Teasers,” and “If You’re So Smart, Prove it!, Amusing Word Games For All Ages.”

“The Cleverest Brain Games on the Planet” is $9.95, paperback; $2.99, e-book. Visit www.cleverpuzzles.com and Amazon.com.
