Middle school students receive DAR Youth Citizenship awards

A dozen local middle school students have received Youth Citizenship awards from the Susana Coutanch Evans Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

For the awards, faculty, administrators and students at each school select the student who best fulfilled the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism.

The recipients were: Madeline Goetz of A.G. Cox Middle School; McKyrah Brown of E.B. Aycock Middle; Monica Trejo-Martinez of Ayden Middle; Grey Gaul of Bethel School; Seth Garris of Chicod School; Caroline Paige McKeel of C.M. Eppes Middle; Danielle Strickland of G.R. Whitfield School; Aiden Buck of Grifton School; Anna Below of Hope Middle; Cristian Asencio of Pactolus School; Dylan Lewis of Stokes School; and Rosario Hernandez-Arias of Wellcome Middle.

Each winner received an engraved medal and framed certificate from the chapter. Cynthia Pesci coordinated the awards program.
