Vendor of the week: Just Plain Nuts
Wednesday, September 13, 2017
The Leroy James Farmers Market vendor of the week is Jeff Cobb of Just Plain Nuts Peanut Company. Cobb has been a vendor at the farmers market since 2015.
Cobb is a lifelong resident of Pitt County, born and raised in Greenville. Three years ago, he got the idea to build a stainless steel peanut cooker that is solar powered. The solar panel creates electricity that goes to the battery bank, which in turn powers a 12-volt motor that rotates the peanut drum while a 3-foot-long gas burner cooks the peanuts.
Cobb was in the fireplace business for more than 30 years, specializing in gas log maintenance and repair work. For more information, call 227-3480.
The Leroy James Farmers Market is at 4560 County Home Road. Hours are from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
