Auditions

Magnolia Arts Center has rescheduled auditions for “Almost Maine” from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 8-9 at 1703 E. 14th St. Visit www.magnoliaartscenter.com.

Call for entries

Emerge Gallery and Art Center, 404 Evans St., is accepting entries for the Downeast Indoor and Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, a national juried sculpture exhibit. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 and older. Any medium is eligible (ceramics, small metals, large scale metals, mixed media, etc) as long as it is three-dimensional.

Applications are available at pittcountyarts.org under artists and artist opportunities.

Entries must be received in digital, JPEG format, labeled with “lastname_firstname_title.jpeg” by Jan. 20. Entries can be delivered on CD or emailed to info@pittcountyarts.org. Accepted indoor work must be delivered between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Feb. 24. The indoor exhibition dates are March 2-30, 2018, and the outdoor exhibition dates are March 2018-February 2019.

GMA

Recent acquisitions will be on exhibit through Jan. 14 in the West Wing and Commons galleries. Recent additions to the museum’s collection include artwork by Francis Speight, Paul Hartley, Catherine Walker, Gail Ritzer, Aleta Braun and James Beaman. A reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 5 during First Friday Artwalk.

City Art Gallery

The annual holiday show continues through Sunday. It includes paintings, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, blown-glass ornaments and stemware and hand-painted cards.

Applewhite, the eighth annual collection of art based on the poetry of James Applewhite, will open Jan. 19. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m., with a poetry reading by Applewhite at 7 p.m.

Gray Gallery

A Materials Topics Exhibition will be on display from Jan. 5-25. An opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 5.

The Schwa Show, a nationally juried exhibition featuring fine arts and crafts, will be exhibited Jan. 5-26. An opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 5 during First Friday Artwalk.

Joyner Library

The 10th Annual Joyner Library School of Art and Design Graduate Student Art Exhibit continues through Jan. 28 in the Janice Hardison Faulkner Gallery on the second floor of Joyner Library. The exhibition features artworks by graduate students in ECU’s School of Art and Design. Works will include paintings and drawings, textile and metal designs, sculpture, photography and pottery. Greenville Brushstrokes
