Liam Dao of Greenville has received an Everyday Young Hero award from Youth Service America.

Liam, 17, a student leader with Love A Sea Turtle, was recognized for his work with the Paint The Drain initiative, a partnership with the City of Greenville and its public works department.

Liam created a stenciling instructional video, which he launched on Global Youth Service Day 2017. More than 400 storm drains have been painted in the effort, which is designed to educate people about storm water run-off and the importance of protecting and preserving fresh water resources. Liam's goal is to have more than 10,000 storm drains stenciled over the next five years.
