The Leroy James Farmers Market vendor of the week is Handmade Jewelry & Crafts by Jamie.

Jamie Edwards has been making jewelry since 2014 and has recently started painting mason jars and wine bottles.

“A spinal cord injury in 2000 left me with very limited mobility on my left side,” Edwards said. “I have helped on my dad’s produce farm and wanted more than summer work, so I decided to give jewelry making a try. This gives me the freedom to be a wife and mother and stay at home.”

Besides being a mom, she has a passion for jewelry design, and she strives to turn simple wire and beads into beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces. She also does custom orders.

The Leroy James Farmers Market is at 4560 County Home Road. Hours are from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The featured produce item for Saturday is summer squash. For more information, visit https://www.pittcountync.gov/599/Farmers-Marke

Patty's Place is a small downtown restaurant that serves lunch from 11 to 4. The place is busy, but quick, clean and pleasant. Patty cooks everything herself, the menu is short and the regular customers love it.

Her specialty is a large wedge of crustless green-chile quiche with a side salad…

I love foreign languages and travel, I love alpine skiing and I love interesting local color. So when I had a chance to take a four-week paid sabbatical from work some years ago, I spent more than a year researching the perfect destination that could scratch all those itches simultaneously. Ruthie…

Mom was our navigator, and her GPS was a 1966 book of maps that needed no correction for millionths of seconds.

In those days, the Global Positioning System was a military secret, so when she planned a 14,000-mile summer trip, she was on her own with pencils and a few brochures. In January she…

I’ve never thought Keanu Reeves was a great actor, but I’ve loved many of his movies.

“Point Break” was a thrill ride. The “Bill & Ted” movies were a hoot. Those “Matrix” blockbusters were memorable sci-fi. And his “John Wick” action…

As most occupants of planet Earth know, last year's "Avengers: Infinity War" ended with the genocidal demigod Thanos using six "infinity stones" to erase half of all life in the universe.

It would have been logical to assume the sequel, "Avengers: Endgame," would start with lots of funerals, with…
