Parrott student receives Tar Heel Jr. Historian honor

Arendell Parrott Academy junior Grace Newhall recently won second place in secondary school art projects at the Tar Heel Jr. Historians State Convention. Her painting, which highlighted Vidant Hospital’s role in eastern North Carolina health care, was accompanied by research on the evolution of medical care in rural North Carolina.
The convention took place at the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh and included 300 THJH students and advisers.Grace attended with Parrott’s K-Tribe chapter adviser Vicki Kennedy.
As a winner, Grace will have her art work and research displayed for one year in the museum's Tar Heel Jr. Historians gallery.
