School is finally out for the summer, and it’s time to step back and take a break from the hectic pace that life demands. This also means you can take a break from making meals and let someone else do the cooking, pickup and delivery through the third-party restaurant-delivery service Takeout Pros.

Owner Nate Simmons, a native of Duplin County and graduate of Appalachian State University, has more than 10 years of experience in the restaurant takeout service industry. Almost two years ago, Simmons opened a branch of Takeout Pros in eastern North Carolina to allow people more delivery options from the restaurants they love. Greenville is known to have one of the highest numbers of restaurants per capita in the state, so settling his new business here was an easy decision. Simmons’ business model is simple. He wants to deliver your favorite restaurant foods in a timely, friendly and easy way because you have better things to do.

Here is how Takeout Pros works in three easy steps. First go online or use the mobile-friendly app. Punch in your ZIP code, address and delivery time, pick a restaurant, order from the interactive menu, pay and leave the rest to the professionals. You can track the progress on the website tracker or on the mobile tracker app and know who your driver is, what he looks like, when the driver arrives at the restaurant, when he leaves with food in hand and when he arrives at your door. Drivers usually arrive within 30-60 minutes.

Partnering restaurants set their own minimum purchases, with the majority of them requiring a minimum food order of $10-$20. Takeout Pros charges a 5 percent service fee to cover processing fees. Some restaurants require charges up to 25 percent to 35 percent to cover the costs of this service. The website will show you all charges before you hit the submit button.

You also can order basic groceries like milk, bread, butter, sandwich meat and bacon. This is a perfect option for those who are home sick or recovering from surgery, or even that new mom who needs a little extra help.

Takeout Pros partners with 31 local restaurants to provide a wide array of menu items. If you want Caribbean, Indian or Thai, order from Thai Mon Cuisine, Tastee Thai, Cinnamon Indian Cuisine or Villa Verde. Some healthy options include Juice Vibes, Mike’s Deli, Firehouse Subs, Muscle Maker Grill, Subway or Tropical Smoothie Cafe. If you feel a fiesta coming on, order from Mazatlan, Plaza Azteca, Salsaritas or Totopos Street Food & Tequila. Other restaurants include China 10, Angus Grill, Crave, Fire American Tavern, Osaka Japanese, Marathon, East Coast Wings & Grill, Highway 55, Mellow Mushroom, Tie Breakers, Duck Donuts and Your Perfect Cake.

I used the website via my laptop to place my order. Before I decided what I wanted, I enjoyed being able to view pictures of menu items while surfing through the easy-to-navigate website. Many of the menus have pictures to show what the meal will look like when it comes to your door. For my taste test, I decided to sample some items from Totopas Street Food & Tequila. I ordered spicy steak tacos and chicken fajitas.

I placed my order at 5:23 p.m. and within a few minutes received an email saying my order was being processed at 5:28 p.m. and that Wayne would be my delivery person. My estimated time of arrival was between 6:03 and 6:08 p.m. Within 10 minutes, my driver arrived at the restaurant. He left with my food four minutes later and arrived at my door at 5:56 p.m., almost 10 minutes early. My delivery person was courteous, and my food arrived hot and still presented well when I opened the takeout boxes. Everything was fresh and all extra side dressings, napkins and packets of ketchup were included. My Mexican fiesta was enjoyable, and I loved that I didn’t have to brave the food lines or get in my car and go pick up dinner.

Overall, the experience went well and I recommend trying this service for yourself. Make sure to tip drivers because they use their own cars and pay for their own gas.

If you are having dinner with several friends and need to make multiple payments, Takeout Pros can accommodate this and offers advanced order placing. The delivery service accepts credit cards, cash and can even split checks and take up to 10 different payments in one order.

If you want to earn money toward your next order, there is a program called ProBucks. Here is how it works. Once you get your food delivered take a picture before taking a bite. Upload the photo on either the website tracker page or the mobile app. If the photos are high enough quality, Takeout Pros will upload them on social media and use them on the restaurant online menus. For every photo used, you get $1 in ProBucks to use on a future order.

If you have a restaurant that would like to partner with Takeout Pros or you are interested in being a driver, go to TakeoutPros.com, click on restaurants and submit your application or call 762-3289. To try out Takeout Pros for yourself, use coupon code WAYNE on your next order and get a free delivery. Offer expires July 4. To learn more, visit www.takeoutprosgv.com.
