The Leroy James Farmers Market vendors of the week are Samuel and Mary Houston.

After Samuel retired from his career in agriculture, the couple decided to start a family garden and sell their extra produce at the farmers market.They have been vendors for 22 years.

The Houstons offer collards, salad greens, cabbage, sweet potatoes, white potatoes and squash at the market.

The Leroy James Farmers Market is at 4560 County Home Road. Hours are from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Farmers Market Nutrition Education Program presents a healthy cooking demonstration from 8 a.m.-noon each Saturday. This week’s demonstration will feature blueberries. Samples and recipes of the prepared dish will be available.
