LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Li-Jen Chu doubled and singled twice, and Kirk McCarty threw six scoreless innings as the Lynchburg Hillcats topped the Down East Wood Ducks 2-1 on Sunday. With the victory, the Hillcats swept the three-game series.

McCarty struck out six and walked one while allowing two hits.

After four scoreless innings, Lynchburg got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Chu hit an RBI double, scoring Jose Medina.

The Wood Ducks tied the game in the seventh inning when Andretty Cordero hit a solo home run.

The Hillcats took the lead for good in the seventh when Trenton Brooks hit an RBI single, bringing home Medina.

Jared Robinson (4-3) got the win in relief while Blake Bass (1-1) took the loss in the Carolina League game. Dalbert Siri struck out the side for his 11th save of the season.

With the win, Lynchburg improved to 7-3 against Down East this season.
