Senior appreciation

Ride of Silence

EC Velo, Pitt County’s cycling club, will host the a national Ride of Silence event beginning at 7 p.m. to raise awareness to the need for safer, inclusive and accessible streets and to honor bicycle riders who have been killed or injured. Riders of all ages are encouraged participated in the 10-mile, police escorted ride. Gather at the Uptown Bicycle Post parking lot at 6:30 p.m. More information is posted on www.ecvelo.org. Book lecture, signing

Author Matthew Davenport will discuss and sign his book “First Over There: The Attack on Cantigny, America’s First Battle of World War I” at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Historic Bath State Historic Site, 207 Carteret St. Davenport is a U.S. Army veteran and practicing Greenville attorney. The North Carolina Retired School Personnel of Pitt County will hold a general meeting at 10 a.m. at Parker's Barbecue, 3109 S. Memorial Drive. This will be a memorial and planning meeting. Pancake dinner

The Winterville Kiwanis Club will have a pancake dinner fundraiser 5-7 p.m., Thursday to benefit A.G. Cox Middle School, 2657 Church St., Winterville. The plates are $6 each and will be served in the cafeteria. All funds will go to the school. Walk-ins are welcome.

Farmville Senior Council
