Pitt County Schools announced Wednesday that its internet and phone service will be interrupted today due to emergency repairs to its data center.
Repairs are expected to take place from 8-11 a.m., school system spokesman Travis Lewis said. During this time, schools and other facilities will be without internet service and many will have no phone service.
Anyone who needs to contact their child's school must do so after 11 a.m., Lewis said.
“We apologize for the inconvenience, but immediate action is required to ensure reliable internet and phone service during the upcoming school year,” he said.
The outage will have no effect on open house schedules, he said. “So please continue to plan to come out to your child's school Thursday evening.”
Parents in the school system were alerted to the outage vie automated phone calls and email notifications.
