The first day of fall is expected to bring fair weather for today's Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair.

The National Weather Service has forecast mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the mid-60s, for the duration of the fair, which concludes Sunday.

The 98th annual fair features a children's barnyard, free shows and exhibits and nearly three dozen carnival rides from Powers Midway.

Today's features include vocalists Kathryn Snead and Alexis Vann, who will perform at 7 p.m. Down to Earth Aerials will perform three shows daily from today-Sunday.

Daily entertainment includes hypnotist-magician Alan Sands, one-man-band Marc Dobson, Mark Madden rope tricks and Kids Celebration family game show. Other daily features include High Rollers antique bicycles, TA-Da Enterprises Robots, 18th-century tinsmith Michael Felk, Knockerball, mechanical bull riding and helicopter rides (weather permitting.)

Fair hours are 3-10:45 p.m. today, 1-11:45 p.m. Saturday and 1-8:45 p.m. Sunday.

General daily admission is $6, free for ages 4 and younger. Wristbands (for unlimited rides) are $20 each. Parking is free. Visit pittfair.org or call 756-6916.
