Some people love Black Friday shopping. They like the rush, the crush, the excitement and the opportunity to save money.

Others hate it and stay away from the malls, the stores and the Christmas tree lots on Black Friday.

The Daily Reflector this week asked several people in the downtown area if they’re going shopping today. Here’s what the had to say.

Chris Darden: I’m not doing Black Friday shopping. I don’t have small kids. I don’t have any reason to go stand in line to do Black Friday shopping.

Karen Harper: Only a rookie shopper goes shopping after Thanksgiving.

Walter Harper: Oh No! No! No shopping. I don’t go shopping. She has to drag me along every time I go shopping, even for my clothes.

Thomas Brock: I really don’t want to, but I have no choice because I’ve got six grand kids.

Teresa Cincinnatus: Yes. I’m looking for jewelry, appliances and whatever good bargains are out there. I’m going to Virginia, Maryland and maybe New York.

Cherry Stokes: Are you crazy? I’m going on Sunny Saturday. I’m not going on Black Friday. I heard that a third of Americans are buying their Christmas tress on Friday. I’m not going to fight those crowds unless it’s something I really want, but it’s usually gone in the first 30 minutes.

Chrystal Pratt: I don’t know because I have to go to work. I may sneak out early or go later. I’m going to try.

Ivery Johnson: Yes, to get it out of the way. It’s going to be crazy. It’s going to be crazy. I’m shopping for TVs, cheap jewelry, toys for the kids. I’ll get up like 3 o’clock in the morning. You’ve got to. It’s crazy.
