A Memory Bear Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vidant Wellness Center, 910 Wellness Drive. Memory bears provide a sense of comfort to those grieving. At the workshop, participants will work with a volunteer seamstress to create a unique bear stitched together from an article of clothing that belonged to a loved one. People who sew and have an interest in volunteering should also call this number. Another Memory Bear Workshop will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 12.

Veterans host bingo
The Veterans of Foreign Wars 7032 host bingo games every Saturday at the post headquarters, 1108 Mumford Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30 p.m. Call 758-3251 for information between 10 a.m. and noon daily.
The Winterville Historical and Arts Society, Inc. will host an “Old Christmas Tea” from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Winterville Museum, 2543 Church St.. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. For more information call 321-2660.
MLK Day of Service:
The City of Greenville will sponsor A Day of Service Monday. City staff and community volunteers will have the opportunity to join one of three roadside beautification projects from 10 a.m. to noon. They include a stretch of Stantonsburg Road near the City of Greenville sign at Allen Road, Memorial Drive between Third and Fifth streets and Greenville Boulevard near E.B. Aycock Middle School. Trail clean-up at River Park North, 1000 Mumford Road, a fourth project, will be from 9-11 a.m. Anyone interested in participating in a roadside project should meet at Five Points Plaza at 10 a.m. to pick up supplies and get assignments. Those wishing to clean trails at River Park North should arrive at the park by 9 a.m. For more information, contact the City's Public Information Office at 329-4131.
A Pitt County Job Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday at Eppes Recreation Center, 400 Nash St. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet some of Pitt County’s top employers. A “Fish Stew” fundraiser will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday in the Taft Christian Life Center at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, 510 S. Washington St. Vegetable stew, cornbread, fresh rolls, James Enos-Edu’s world-famous mac ‘n’ cheese and kid-friendly options will also be available. There are no tickets. Free-will donations will go to The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) for the relief of flood victims of 2017 in North and South Carolina, the Florida Keys, Houston, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
