WINTERVILLE — Two local organizations dedicated to helping cancer patients and their families are making a pitch for local participation in a fundraising event.

Beau’s Buddies and Riley’s Army are joining forces to host a baseball/softball fundraising tournament on March 3-4.

Beau’s Buddies Cancer Fund is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of cancer patients in eastern North Carolina. Riley’s Army is a nonprofit organization that supports children with cancer and their families in eastern N.C.

The organizations are using the tournament to raise community awareness and support their missions.

The event will hold baseball and softball games for ages 8U-14U. The primary location will be at Winterville Parks and Rec with other locations opening up if needed.

To register a team, go to www.playtopgunsports.com.

The nonprofits are pre-selling Jimmy John’s boxed lunches for the tournament until Feb 27. To order a boxed lunch, go to www.rileysarmy.com and click under the events tab. At the tournaments, game shirts will be sold and a 50/50 raffle drawing will be available.
