Drivers who use York Road will need to plan to rethink their route starting next week.
The replacement of a stormwater pipe will shut down through traffic on York Road for about four weeks.
According to Jordan Anders, a spokesperson for Greenville’s Public Works department, construction will be just east of Sir Raleigh Court, closing down the road beginning Monday until about four weeks later.
Traffic still will be be able to access neighborhood and driveway entrances on York Road, but the road will be inaccessible to through traffic.
Contractors will be replacing a 60-inch stormwater pipe that crosses underneath the road. The current pipe is undersized and at the end of its lifespan, and will be replaced with a 72-inch pipe, Anders said.
The project will be funded solely by the stormwater utility fee, he said.
