A pickup truck driver led law enforcement on a chase through Greenville that ended with an arrest on Saturday morning.

State Highway Patrol Sgt. Scott Hammonds said a trooper stopped a vehicle for a seat belt violation on Memorial Drive, but the driver fled the scene.

The driver then led law enforcement from several agencies on a chase through Greenville and crashed his truck near Arlington Boulevard and Red Banks Road, where officials were able to apprehend him.

The driver at one point led the officers through the parking lot of a Food Lion on Red Banks and up and down Red Banks Road, according to witness reports.

Hammonds said there was property damage to a patrol vehicle.

Injuries are possible but still under evaluation, he said. The driver was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
