A panel of educators, parents and law enforcement will participate in a roundtable discussion about safety in Pitt County Schools 7:30-9 a.m. today at 400 St. Andrews in Greenville.

Participants include Pitt County Schools Superintendent Ethan Lenker and Greenville Police Chief Mark Holtzman, Janarde Cannon and Lauren Piner, principal and teacher from South Central High School, Melissa Adamson, president of Parents for Pitt County Schools and Les Jackson, school resource officer at D.H. Conley High School

The discussion will be broadcast live on 103.7 WTIB FM radio and played on local Suddenlink cable channel seven later this weekend. Henry Hinton of Inner Banks Media will moderate the discussion as part of his Talk of the Town program.

“There is nothing more important than keeping our kids safe,” Hinton said. “We thought it was important, in light of recent events, to have a public discussion and hear from school leaders about what is being done locally and give parents a chance to give their input.”

Members of the audience will be encouraged to speak or ask questions. Rep Express Catering will provide breakfast to visitors during the discussion.
