The staff at a Greenville dental practice were all smiles this week, their second full week in a newly renovated building on Arlington Boulevard.
Bowman, Padgett and Associates opened June 18 after renovating a vacant dental office at Arlington and Dickinson Avenue and moving from their location just east of Dickinson at Thomas Professional Park, said Carmye Castellow, business office manager.
“We had outgrown the former facility,” Castellow said. “We had expanded our techniques and equipment and were just out of space there, forced to store things in the hallways. We have much more space here, which makes it more practical for us and much nicer for our patients.”
The new location, which formerly housed Burton Family Dentistry, provides about 11,000 square feet, an additional 4,000 square feet. The renovation modernized the building’s appearance and made room for the new technology and a dental surgery suite, Castellow said.
“It makes it so much nicer for our patients and for us since we’ve grown so much, and we have room for future growth here,” she said.
The practice started in 1975 and employs 26 people, including eight permanent dental hygienists. Mark Bowman, Jamison Padgett and John Hoggard are the dentists.
“The operatory rooms now are brighter and more streamlined. Patients can look out windows at the natural surroundings and relax more readily,” Castellow said. “Dr. Bowman has a new technological device that is used in implant procedures. It’s a large machine, but this building allows it to be kept inside the surgery suite. At our old location, it would have to be kept in the hallway.”
More furniture and new signage still are on the way. Several rooms remain unused for now, but will be available if more dentists join the practice, Castellow said.
Padgett said she was excited about the renovations at her practice’s new location, which she co-designed with partner Bowman’s wife.
“It was a collaborative process and I think it turned out great,” she said. “It was nice to be able to have a more modern decor. Having more room and owning our own property here also are important aspects of this change. Our new signage is very rustic, balanced by our state-of-the-art technology additions. We’re excited to be able to stand out a bit.”
