Blood donors needed

The Eastern N.C. Blood Donor Center, 700 Cromwell Drive, is open today and will be open on Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Blood donors are needed. Walk-ins accepted; appointments recommended. Visit www.redcrossblood.org. 

Mega Yard Sale

Youth with the Eastern North Carolina Scuba Club and Love A Sea Turtle groups will hold a mega-family yard sale from 7 a.m. to noon at the Aquaventure parking lot, 214 Beacon Drive, Winterville. All money raised will benefit youth leadership development programs.

Farmers’ market

The Leroy James Pitt County Farmers’ Market, 4560 County Home Road, will be open for the extended hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. The market will hold its first-ever “The Farm’s Holiday Magic Craft Fair,” featuring fixings for holiday suppers, easy snacks for parties, hostess gifts and beautiful, unique one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces by local artists to give as Christmas gifts. Food distribution

The Armor of God Christian Church, 2648 Mill St., Winterville, will host a food distribution from 10 a.m. to noon. Call 746-8403. The church will distribute food to the community every Thursday and Saturday at this time and location.

Toys for Tots

A registration session for families who wish to receive items through Toys for Tots will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brown and Wood, Inc., 329 S.W. Greenville Blvd. Pictures will be taken with Santa and goody bags will be handed out. For more information, contact the Toys for Tots coordinator, the Rev. Rodney Coles Sr. at 717-9600.

Holiday show

The Grifton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual holiday show 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show will take place at the fire station, 6881 S. Highland Blvd., in downtown Grifton. Vendors will offer food and gift items for the holiday season. Proceeds go to the fire department.

Veterans host bingo

The Veterans of Foreign Wars 7032 host bingo games every Saturday at the post headquarters, 1108 Mumford Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30 p.m. Call 252-758-3251 for information between 10 a.m. and noon daily.

Greenville USA Dance

MDA fundraiser

The Grifton Fire Department will be “Filling the Boot” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Friday at the stoplight intersection of South Highland Boulevard and Queen Street. Firefighters will hit the streets or storefronts with boots in hand asking pedestrians, motorist, customers and other passersby to make a donation. Funds raised will MDA research and life-enhancing programs. For more information visit mda.org. 


Alumni of The Pitt County Training School/G.R. Whitfield School in Grimesland are invited to a celebration at 6 p.m. on Friday at the American Legion Post 39, 403 St. Andrews Drive. Early College Band, Chorus

The Pitt Community College Early College high school chorus and band will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Temple Free Will Baptist Church, 130 W. Fire Tower Road in Winterville. The band and chorus will play music from Broadway shows, traditional choral works and Christmas music.

Senior Christmas Party

The Pitt County Senior Coalition will hold a Senior Christmas Party from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 4 at First Presbyterian Church, 1400 S. Elm St. This event is free for all seniors age 55 and up. RSVP no later than Wednesday by calling 752-1717.
