Man charged with assault, voluntary manslaughter

A Greenville man has been arrested for an assault last month that seriously injured a woman and resulted in a miscarriage, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant states that Monterry Demetrius Brown, 39, of 108 Apt.-A Paul Circle, is accused of striking Tamara Blue with open and closed fists, pushing her and then attempting to strangle her. 

Blue sustained scratches around her neck and miscarried after being struck.  

The incident took place on Feb.28 and police arrested Brown on March.11.

Brown is charged with a one count of voluntary manslaughter of an unborn child, one count of communicating threats, one count of assault by strangulation, two counts of assault on a female, one count of assault on a child under 12, one count of violation release, one count of violating a domestic violence protective order and one count of habitual misdemeanor assault. He remains jailed under a $350,000 bond.     

Brown is expected to make his next court appearance on March 27.
