Virginia woman killed in Thursday morning crash

A fatal car crash killed a Hampton, Va., woman and seriously injured her passenger on Thursday morning, according to the Greenville Police Department.
The crash took place at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Arlington Boulevard, near Wall Street, according to a news release.
The news release stated that Elizabeth Ann Harper, 68, was traveling west on Arlington Boulevard from Red Banks Road when she lost control of her vehicle and ran off the road to the right, striking a tree.
Harper died at the scene.
Her passenger, Barbara Ann Taft, was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville where she is in stable condition.
Greenville Police said it was raining at the time of crash and the roadway was wet, which was a contributing factor in the wreck. Speed was also a factor, police said.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Greenville Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
