A Greenville man was charged with driving while impaired and misdemeanor child abuse for having a child in his car, according to Pitt County Court records.

Robert Antwan Bowens Jr., 54, of 1616 Preston Place was stopped at 8:20 p.m on March 14 near Old Pactolus Road by the State Highway Patrol.  Bowens had a child in the rear seat.  He had red, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.  His blood alcohol level was 0.09.  

Eight other people also were charged with driving while impaired, according to court records and law enforcement reports available between March.10 and March 17. In other cases, court documents indicate:

■ Anthony Tyrone Acklin, 43, of 1620 Airport Road,Greenville, was stopped at 10:05 p.m. on March 16 near N.C. 33 and Briley Road by the State Highway Patrol. He had red, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath. His blood alcohol level was 0.11.

■ Jacquelin Ruth Hunter, 52 , of 432 Third Street Apt B, Ayden, was stopped at 11:50 p.m. on March 24 near U.S. 264 Alternate by the State Highway Patrol. She had red, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol on her breath. She refused a breathalyzer. was charged with driving without a license and reports indicated that she has never been licensed in the state of North Carolina. She was charged with going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. She was drowsy, had red, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol on her breath. Her blood alcohol level was 0.08.

■ Lindsey Leigh Moore, 39, of 329B South Pointe Drive, Winterville, was stopped at 11:05 p.m. on March 15 near Fire Tower Road and Victory Lane by the Winterville Police Department. Her blood alcohol level was 0.21.

■ Matthew Benson Paramore, 34, of 1411 Canter Way, Ayden, was stopped at 10:16 p.m. on March 16 near Third Street and West Avenue by the Ayden Police Department. He had red, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. His blood alcohol level was 0.19. 

■ Maureen H. Salzlein, 66, of 4006 White Bridge Drive, Winterville, was stopped at 4:02 p.m. on March 17 near 182 Main Street by the Winterville Police Department.  She had slurred speech, was sluggish and was in the driver’s seat while the car was running.   

■ Benjamin Charles Styons, 61, of 1303 S. Wright Road, Greenville, was stopped at 2:41 a.m. on March 14 near East Wright Road by the Greenville Police Department He was found in the driver’s seat  while the vehicle was running.  He also had an open container of liquor and one of the car’s windows was broken.  He also had to be evaluated by EMS. He had red, glassy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He refused a breathalyzer.  

■ Carol Bulos Tomaneng, 36, of 1221 Quarter Path Drive, Winterville, was stopped at 3:37 a.m. on March 16 near U.S. 264 Alternate and Staton Road by the State Highway Patrol. She had an odor of alcohol on her breath and red, glassy eyes.  She also was charged with going 77 in a 55 mph zone. Her blood alcohol level was unavailable. 

■ Kimberly Latrease Vance,34, of 1308 Bond St., Kinston, was stopped at 5:50 a.m. on March 12 near N.C. 11 and Fire Tower Road by the Winterville Police Department. She had an odor of alcohol on her breath and had an open container in the car.  She also was charged with driving with expired tags.
