The Emmanuel Community and Serenity Tabemacle Churches will host a yard sale fundraiser for the Women’s Fellowship from 7 a.m. to noon. Items for sale include clothes, shoes, handbags and household items.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7032 and American Legion Post 39 will hold a joint Flag Retirement Ceremony at 9 a.m. at the VFW Post, 1108 Mumford Road. This event is open to the public. For more information, call Rod Choy at 364-1083.
An event for male Pitt County Schools students will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall, 200 W. Fifth St. The mission of this event is to enlighten young men about government, politics and the right to vote. Criteria for attendance is to be a male Pitt County Schools student between the ages of 11 and 18. This event is free. For more information, call 355-7981.
The Pitt County Master Gardeners will host its annual plant sale from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pitt County Arboretum, 403 Government Circle. A variety of plants from the arboretum and from the Master Gardeners’ collections will be on sale. A plant swap will take place at 11 a.m. where customers may trade their own plants for others to take home. Proceeds will benefit the Pitt County Arboretum. Pets in the Park
The Humane Society of Eastern North Carolina and Curtis Media Group will sponsor a “Pets in the Park” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Town Common, 105 E. First St. Dogs and their families are welcome at this free event featuring an “adopt-a-thon,” pet contests, a dog wedding, giveaways and music. All dogs must remain on leashes. Veterans host bingo
The Veterans of Foreign Wars 7032 host bingo games every Saturday at the post headquarters, 1108 Mumford Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30 p.m. Call 758-3251 for information.
The Carolina Chord Connection men's barbershop chorus and Sassy Southern Sound women's barbershop chorus present their annual show at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, 2810 East 14th Street, Greenville. The special guest ensemble is "Up All Night," a women's barbershop quartet from Washington, D.C., area. Profits will benefit Aces for Autism. Tickets are $15 at the door or on the website www.carolinachordconnection.com.
A dinner will be provided by Third Street Education Center, 600 W. Third St., from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $50 a person and include a full barbecue dinner and a silent auction. An advance care planning event will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday at Vidant Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehab Clinic, 2470 Stantonsburg Road. The first hour of the event will be an educational program, informing participants of what to do to have your wishes honored at the end of life. The second hour of the event will be the clinic session, where certified facilitators and notaries will be available at no charge to assist in completion of end of life documents. The NC Retired School Personnel of Pitt County will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the South Greenville Recreation Center, 851 Howell St. This will be a general meeting and is open to all retired school personnel in the county. For more information, contact Sheila Mendoza at 252-714-6027.
Concert on the Common
A concert at the Town Common, 105 E. First St., will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. The event will be moved to May 25 if it is rained out. Attendees should bring blankets or chairs to sit on for this free concert featuring the Legacy Motown Revue band. For more information call 329-4567.
