Dispute in parking deck leads to shots fired

An Ayden man opened fire in the downtown parking deck around 2:14 a.m, following a  Sunday morning altercation between two groups of people, Greenville police said.  

Police arrested and charged Morris Carlo Bowser Jr., 28, of  214 Englewood Place, in connection to the shooting. 

According to department spokeswoman Kristen Hunter, two groups were involved in the altercation. During the incident, Bowser retrieved a gun from the trunk of his vehicle and moved toward the others while firing a shot into the air.

A Greenville Police Department incident report indicates that Bowser tried to shoot 25-year-old Marqhuan Tesuan Roberson of Greenville. Roberson was not injured and Hunter said police officers located Bowser and detained all involved parties for questioning. 

Bowser is charged with was discharging a firearm with city limits, assault by pointing a gun, going armed to the terror of the public and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Officers also recovered a 9mm carbine rifle.
