Threads of Love
Threads of Love, a group that sews, knits and crochets items for preemies and sick babies staying in local hospitals, is looking for new members. The group meets at 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Council on Aging, 4551 County Home Road. Bring yarn, fabric or notions the group can use. Contact Jennifer Wells at 746-4077.
Crochet lessons are available from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Farmville Public Library, 4276 W. Church St., Farmville. Call 753-3355.
Grief support group
Pathways to Hope is an ongoing grief support group that meets from 5:30-7 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month at Vidant Wellness Center, 2610 Stantonsburg Road. The free program is offered by Vidant Home Health and Hospice. Individuals may come and go based on their needs with no start date or end date. For information call 847-1236.
A food bank is held the second Tuesday of every month from noon-2 p.m at Sycamore Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 Hooker Road. Those in need of assistance should stop by the church to pick up a food bag while they last. Disabled people who need assistance may call call 916-2115. For more information call 756-4869.
Farmville Parks and Recreation hosts senior bingo from 1-3 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month from February-May at the Farmville Community Center, 3886 S. Main St. Participants age 50 and older can play the entire two hours for $1, which purchases two cards. Light refreshments will be provided.
Board of Health meeting

The Pitt County branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will hold its monthly support meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room One at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, 510 S. Washington St. NAMI is a free support group for family members, friends and individuals living with mental illness. All meetings are open to the public. For information, call 531-3603 or 341-1999.
Winterville Parks and Recreation hosts aerobic line dancing from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Winterville Operations Center, 2936 Church St., Winterville. Cost is $3.
Drug treatment fundraiser
Mellow Mushroom, 2020 Charles Blvd., will host a fundraiser for the Pitt County Drug Treatment Court from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Supporters should leave their receipts in the glass jar at the hostess stand to ensure the group receives credit.
The Republican Women of Pitt County will meet beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Greenville Country Club, 216 Country Club Drive. Guest speakers at the event include Buddy Bengel, candidate for N.C. Lieutenant Governor, and Greenville Mayor P.J. Connelly. The event will begin with a social before a lunch and meeting at noon. A grocery co-op information session will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 17 at 6927 S. Highland Blvd., Grifton, the former Tropicana Supermarket. The co-op will share a percentage of proceeds with participating churches and will provide free membership cards to member congregations. Call 377-3915.
