A Greenville woman faces charges of child abuse at an unlicensed day care she ran, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office reported on Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office received a complaint on March 25 regarding an unlicensed day care facility being operated at 991 C E Senior Lane in Greenville. There was also a concern regarding child abuse, a news release said.
It was reported that 28-year-old Bridget McLawhorn Rakowski was operating the facility at her home under the name “Bridget’s Care” and was providing care to 10 or more children at times.
The North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education was contacted, and the business was closed, the release said.
After further investigation, Pitt County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged Rakowski with one count of misdemeanor child abuse that involved physical abuse of a toddler. She was arrested Monday and was later released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
