The Armor of God Christian Church, 2648 Mill St., Winterville, will host a food distribution from 8-10 a.m. The church distributes food to the community every Thursday and Saturday at this time and location. Call 689-6590.
The Leroy James Pitt County Farmers’ Market, 4560 County Home Road, will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This week the Farmers Market has been holding a school supply drive for students in need. The last day for collection will be today. Items collected will be delivered to the Pitt County social work office next week. Fluff & Puff
The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina will sponsor a Fluff & Puff Dog Wash from 10-2 p.m. at Wasabi 88, 1605 E. Fire Tower Road. Proof of rabies vaccine is required for all dogs through an original certificate or copy of it on a phone. Tags only are not accepted. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society. Veterans host bingo
The Veterans of Foreign Wars 7032 host bingo games every Saturday at the post headquarters, 1108 Mumford Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30 p.m. Call 758-3251 for information between 10 a.m. and noon daily.
Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 4284 West Ave., Ayden, will host a Book Bag and School Supplies Give-A-Way from 10:30-noon. The event will include free pizza and activities for all. Call 746-4899.
St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church will give away book bags, school supplies and toiletry bags at Eppes Recreation Center, 400 Nash St., from 9:30-11:30 a.m. while supplies last. The Pitt County Council on Aging will sponsor a six-week series of workshops on “Living Healthy With Chronic Pain” from 1-3:30 p.m. starting on Tuesday and continuing through Oct. 1 in the multipurpose room at the C.M. Eppes Recreation Center, 400 Nash St. Pain self-management is ideal for people age 55 and older with chronic pain. Call 752-1717, Ext. 214 to register. The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association is accepting applications for the William W. Down Scholarship for farmers to attend the 34th Annual Sustainable Agriculture Conference that will take place on Nov. 1-3 in Durham. Applications are due on Aug. 31.
