Fair days ahead: Rides, displays and family fun at annual event

From cuddly animals to carnival rides, produce displays to concerts and magic shows, Pitt County’s annual fair is packed with family-friendly fun.

The 100th anniversary Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair is scheduled for today through Sunday at 3910 Martin Luther King Highway.

The event will feature a children’s barnyard, free shows and exhibits and nearly three dozen carnival rides from Powers Midway.

Daily entertainment includes hypnotist-magician Alan Sands, one-man-band Marc Dobson and The Aquatic Acrobatic Show.

The fair, which has the theme “Celebrating 100 Years of Agricultural Fun,” also has different daily themes, including Daily Reflector family night on Tuesday ($2 off admission with newspaper coupon); senior citizens day on Wednesday with free admission from 1-6 p.m. for ages 55 and older; and college night on Thursday ($2 off admission with student identification).

Fair hours are 5:30-10:45 p.m. Tuesday, 4-10:45 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 1-11:45 p.m. Saturday and 1-7:45 p.m. Sept. 22.

General daily admission is $7, free for ages 4 and younger. Wristbands (for unlimited rides) are $25 each. Parking is free. Visit pittfair.org or call 756-6916.
