ECU seeking supplies for Ocracoke residents

East Carolina University is hosting a drive to help people in Hyde County affected by Hurricane Dorian, the university announced on Wednesday.
East Carolina Undaunted, the university’s hurricane response team, will host the goods drive in partnership with the Hyde County manager’s office for Ocracoke Island through Sept. 27
Donors are asked to bring items to ECU’s Willis Building, 300 E. First St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Residents and recovery team members have an immediate need for the following items: WD-40, air conditioning window units, fire extinguishers, plastic bins, shovels, rakes, mops, brooms, shaving cream, laundry detergent, coffee, soft drinks, dry milk, Gatorade and cat litter.
At this time, non-perishable food, bottles of water and clothing are not needed.
