The Purple-Gold Golf Open is scheduled for Sept. 15 at Ironwood Golf and Country Club.

All proceeds benefit the East Carolina Alumni Association scholarship fund, but golfers do not have to be an ECU alum to participate. The tournament information released states that “everyone is welcome.”

The cost is $150 per player, which includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages and golf cart. Flight times are at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

For more information, contact Shawn Moore at mooresh@ecu.edu or 252-328-5775, or go to PirateAlumni.com.

Jared Taunton defended his title at Ayden Golf and County Club, winning for the second straight year at the AGCC club championship event. The white tee champion was Chris Lange, and top honors in the mid/senior division went to Gil Moore.

Also at AGCC, senior, student and military days remain for Mondays and Thursdays, costing $20 for those who qualify for 18 holes any time during those days.
