Pitt Community College opened a new baseball season by winning three of four games at USC Sumter.

The Bulldogs began with a dominating 15-0 win over the Fire Ants in just six innings. The large margin of victory was aided by a nine-run first inning by Pitt.

Chandler Blackwelder (2-for-3, 2 Rs, 3 RBIs), Joey Goldsmith (1-for-2, 3 Rs, RBI) and Austin Kaplan (1-for-2, 2B, 3 Rs) all provided instant offense for the Bulldogs. Josh Netterville also had four RBIs, and Dylan Patrick got the first pitching victory of the season in shutout fashion.

PCC won Game 2 by a 4-2 count in seven innings. Netterville hit a home run, and John Owen (1-0) struck out five batters with no walks in five frames. Blackwelder continued to shine at the top of the order, going 3-for-3 with a run scored.

Game 3 was a 6-3 win for the Bulldogs, who got a homer and two RBIs from left fiedler Austin LaFollette (2-for-4). Trevor Losito also had two RBIs.

A late rally by the Fire Ants handed PCC its only loss of the weekend, 4-3, in the final game Sunday. Sumter plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
