Chips and putts from area golf courses:
A pair of golfers posted their career-lows at Greenville Country Club. Ashley Rolfe carded a 76 while Lee Mulkey shot a 71.
Jay Smith posted an eagle on the seventh hole.
At Men's Night, Ashton Love, Jason Butler, Jared Pennington and Neal Wollard tied with Brad Ingalls, Thomas Seawell, Zach Smeltzer and Sthil Sowers for first place. Third were Chris Lee, Jeff Stallings, John Custard and Michael Pichan.
The team of Zach Smeltzer, Josh Kennedy, Ashley Rolfe and Tom McCullough took first place in the previous Men's Night. Second place resulted in a tie between the teams of Chris Lee, Chris King and John Custardo; and Ashton Love, Rob McCormick, Ronnie Leggett and Daniel Miller.
Eric Miller and Brandon Mader won the first flight of the Member-Member at Ironwood. They scored a 126, which was also good enough to take the overall championship.
Finishing second were Wade Humes and Josh Aaron with a 129.
The second flight went to Mike Harrell and Rob Waggoner, finishing at 138, but it took a scorecard playoff to settle after Pat Hobbs and Frank Harper also carded the same score but had to settle for second.
Another scorecard playoff came in the third flight. Brady Quinn and Bill Johnson took the top slot, while Brad Sikes and Steve Brooks were second. Both teams scored 144.
Jeff Novak and Tom Kulikowski shot 149 to win the fourth flight. Second were Josh Brittenham and Calum Brittenham at 157.
Debbie Pruitt took low gross honors at the Ladies Play Day last week. Maryann Kram was second and Jan Thornton third.
In the net division, Kelly Conway, Dianne Delaney and Cheryl Newbold finished in a tie for first. Leslie Bailey was second and Lynn Strausbuach took third.
Low putts went to Pruitt with 14. Newbold was second at 16, and Bailey was third with 18 putts.
Ayden Country Club played host to the CFI Tournament last week. The highlight of the tournament was a hole-in-one on No. 9. His prize was a check for $25,000.
Taking low gross was the team of Scott Mullis, Vince Nelsonm Al Butts and Dexter Garner, carding a 55.
Second went to Gil Moore, Paul Andrews, Harvey Taylor and Doug Branch with a 56.
Low net went to Billy Stokes, Corey Stokes, Walter Claybrook and Derrick Reynolds at 48. A shot back in second were Monte Little, Godfrey Little, Linwood Woodward and Tommy Cobb.
Eastern Carolina Village and Farm Museum held their 10th annual Golf Classic at Brook Valley last Monday.
Lee Watson and Bill Mitchum shot 57 go take first place in the first flight. Brent Carter and Chris Justice were second at 61, with Rhett Honeycutt and Greyson Morgan at third with 62.
The second flight was won by Ray Neelon and Kelly Kee with a 60. Brandon Qualls and Van Qualls were second at 64, with Rich Winkler and Allan Hines third with a 65.
Van Qualls, Martin Anderson and Travis Weber won closest to the pin contests.
Last Thursday, the MGA held a “Pirate Ball” event. In this, a captain's choice is used, but if a player’s shot is chosen for the next ball, that golfer must sit out that shot.
A highlight of the day was an eagle on the fourth hole when Donnie Bunn holed out his second shot from the fairway.
First place went to Dan Schisler, Matt Aldridge, Dean Barrow, Richard Winkler and Pavel Plastinin, who won a scorecard playoff, shooting 31. Second, also on a scorecard playoff, were Kirk Rogeron, John Cooke, Gordon Douglas and Bunn. Third, also carding a 31, were Frank Lee, Everett Kelly, Will Johnson and Mark Pabst.
