Chips and putts from area golf courses:


Robersonville will be hosting a women's tournament on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

The club will host its July 4th Superball on that date.

Robersonville will play its Invitational on August 2-4.

Brook Valley

Brook Valley was closed most of last week for full course aerification.

The club will play host to the Tarheel Youth Golf Association's One-Day Tournament on July 1. The event is open to boys and girls who are TYGA members.

The TYGA provides competitive opportunities for high school golfers who are preparing for college and for middle schoolers who are preparing for high school. Tournaments are held on weekends on some of the state's top courses.

The members also compete for season-long “money” and for the scoring leaders. The “money” is based on the PGA with “money” ranging from five to 10 millions “dollars” based on PGA purse distribution formulas.

At season's end, the “money” winner receives a special award while the scoring leader gets the TYGA's version of the Vardon Trophy.

Greenville Country Club held a five-man superball for its Men's Night on Wednesday. First place went to the team of Jason Vick, Jack Vick, Lee Allen, Robert Allen and Ashton Love.

Second place was taken by Chris Holcomb, Chris Lang, Rob McCormick, Josh Kennedy and Josh Barrett.

A tie for third place went to Zack Smeltzer, Justin Brewer. Will Norville, Jared Pennington and T.J. O'Neal; and the team of Brian Summers, Bart Collins, Russell Eaves, Chris Lee and Patrick Watson.


Ironwood played host to the Eastern League on Thursday. Several Ironwood women were among winners,

Georgia White took second low gross in the championship flight. Belle Prusinowski had low putts in the first flight. Dianne Delaney finished with second gross in the second flight. Debbie Pruitt carded low gross in the third flight, while Leslie Bailey had low putts in the fourth flight.
