BB&T’s commitment to not only serving its customers but also its community garnered the Farmville branch the Farmville Chamber of Commerce’s Merchant of the Month award for January.

Judy Gidley, director of the chamber, said BB&T consistently volunteers to help at community events, including the chamber’s annual golf tournament.

“They are not just in the community, but are a part of the community,” Gidley said as she presented the award to Pam Kelly, assistant vice president of BB&T’s community banking division and the cluster manager of the Farmville and Evans Street branches.

“Pam says BB&T can’t do what they do without her team. The chamber can’t do what we do without BB&T and all of our merchants. BB&T is a bank, but it is the employees who make the difference.”

BB&T’s mission is to “provide the perfect client experience,” Kelly said.

“That is the spirit of Farmville, to give back,” Gidley said.

The BB&T Farmville branch has six employees with combined experience of 45 years. Joining Kelly are Barbara Joyner, Kathleen Barnett, Justin Lively, Cecilia Moore and John Heath.

“Together, teamwork makes the dream work,” said Kelly, who has been with BB&T for five years. “It is our pleasure to serve Farmville. We pride ourselves in excellent service.”

The Farmville branch is at 4275 Church St. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
