SPRING LAKE, N.C. (AP) — The family of a Spring Lake girl missing for 20 years is holding a candlelight vigil in her honor in hopes of jarring memories of people who may have information about the disappearance.
Jennifer Nicole Patterson was 7 years old when she was last seen June 23, 1991. Officers from local and federal agencies searched for her.
Her aunt, Angela Rodgers, tells the Fayetteville Observer that the vigil isn't a memorial because the family isn't implying that Jennifer is dead. She says the family wants to remind people of Jennifer's disappearance.
The vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mendoza Park in Spring Lake.
Jennifer was barefoot and wearing a swimsuit when she was last seen as she walked from her home to visit a friend.
