FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old who played quarterback for Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville has been killed.
Police said Will Trower was found shot in the head around 2:15 a.m. Saturday by an officer responding to a wreck in Fayetteville. Authorities say his family decided to take him off life support Sunday and he died a short time later.
Investigators have not identified any suspects. They are trying to determine if a shooting that happened 15 minutes earlier on the same block as the wreck is related to Trower's death.
Trower didn't play much in his senior season last year, suffering an injury that led to bleeding in his lungs. He was later suspended from the team by his coach.
