Several area advertising designers and agencies earned honors recently during the 2004-05 ADDY Awards for advertising creative excellence.
Presented at the Professional Ad Club East on Feb. 25 at the Hilton Greenville, more than 150 regional advertising and media professionals from the Triangle to the Outer Banks attended the event.
Graphic arts students from UNC Pembroke, East Carolina University and Pitt Community College also were recognized.
Top awards of the evening went to the "Best Of" winners. InTandem of Greenville won the best of show award for its interactive Holiday Greeting.
Hodges Associates, Fayetteville, captured best of broadcast for its Briggs television campaign for Briggs and Sons Tire.
Eye Integrated Communications, Greenville, garnered best of print for its Washington Brochure for Washington, N.C., tourism. The judges' excellence award went to Maguffin Design, Rocky Mount, for The Foreigner poster designed for The Playhouse Community Theatre.
The club presented 31 gold ADDY Awards and 48 silver ADDY Awards. Additionally, student entries earned 10 gold and 14 silver awards, along with the Patricia K. Clark Award and Scholarship of $500.
Jason Alexander and Brett Hartsfield of East Carolina University earned the Clark Award, and the Cassie Algeo Student Graphics Award went to Brandon Tilghman of ECU.
All ADDY entries were judged based on creativity, originality and creative strategy.
The competition is a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation.
Gold ADDY winning entries are forwarded to the Third District Regional ADDY Competition. Winners from there move on to national competition.
The ADDY Awards is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition for creative excellence, with more than 60,000 entries annually across the country.
