Schmidt named president-elect of MPI-Carolinas Chapter
Andrew D. Schmidt has been elected president-elect of the Meeting Professionals International Carolinas Chapter.
Schmidt, sales and marketing manager of the Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau, will serve as president-elect during the 2005-06 fiscal year and then as the chapter's president in 2006-07.
Meeting Professionals International-Carolinas Chapter brings together meeting planners and hospitality suppliers from across North Carolina and South Carolina for networking and educational opportunities on a bi-monthly basis.
The Carolinas Chapter has 500 members.
Faulk joins medical school in physical medicine, rehab
Dr. Clinton Faulk has joined the faculty of the Brody Medical School at East Carolina University as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Faulk also is the department's assistant residency program director.
Faulk recently completed residency training at the Brody School of Medicine and Pitt County Memorial Hospital. During his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation, he was an assistant clinical instructor and served as the 2004-05 chief resident.
His areas of expertise include pulmonary rehabilitation, electrodiagnostic medicine, amputee management, orthotic and prosthetic evaluation, musculoskeletal medicine, pain management and long-term acute care.
Faulk has a bachelor's degree in respiratory care from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Md., and a medical degree from the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine in the Netherlands-Antilles.
He will see patients at the Regional Rehabilitation Outpatient Center at Pitt County Memorial Hospital under the auspices of ECU Physicians, the group practice of the medical school.
Pitt County native re-elected as trustee
Dorothy Price Wiggins, a Pitt County native, has been re-elected for a second term as a trustee for the Village of Calumet Park, Ill.
Wiggins graduated from G.R. Whitfield High School in Grimesland in 1967 and received a bachelor's degree in sociology and social welfare from Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh in 1971.
A resident of Calumet Park for 14 years, she works for Blue Island Citizens For Persons With Developmental Disabilities Inc. (Blue Cap).
Her achievements include The Service of Mankind Action Award from the Sertoma Club, the highest award a non-Sertoma member can receive, and the Employee of the Year award from Blue Cap School.
Hunt recognized for sales, service
Dave Hunt, an Edward Jones investment representative in Greenville, has received the Managing Partner's Award for outstanding sales and service efforts during the past year.
Hunt was one of only 642 of the firm's more than 9,000 representatives to receive the award.
Hunt has been with Edward Jon es in Greenville since 1994.
Edward Jones, one of the largest firms in the nation with more than 9,000 branch offices and more than 6 million clients, services individual investors exclusively.
Guice receives honorary GEM
Nina Guice, Annie Razor and Willie Brown have received GEMS (Go the Extra Mile to Serve) of the Month awards for June at Cypress Glenn Retirement Community.
Guice was chosen as an honorary GEM by her fellow residents and staff. She has lived at Cypress Glen since March 1999 and has taken her role as a volunteer through the Greenville Service League up a step by creating her own league at Cypress Glen.
Guice serves the residents and employees by staffing the Stewart Cafe and Sundries Shop, a volunteer shop at Cypress Glen. She handles all the purchasing, accounting and day-to-day operations as a volunteer.
Razor, a Robersonville resident and an employee in the nursing department, has worked at Cypress Glen since June 1994.
Brown works in the maintenance department. A Tarboro resident, he has been with Cypress Glen since January.
Cypress Glen Retirement Community is a continuing care retirement community at 100 Hickory St.
Holton elected to three-year term
Jessica Hallman Holton of Greenville, a provisional licensed clinical social worker (P-LCSW), has been elected as a Coastal Representative of the National Association of Social Workers' North Carolina Chapter's (NASW-NC) board of directors for a three-year term.
The National Association of Social Workers was established in 1995 and is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world.
Holton also recently became a Certified Clinical Addiction Specialist (CCAS). She is the clinical social worker for Walter B. Jones Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center's Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services.
The Walter B. Jones center began admitting patients in 1969. It serves the 38 counties of eastern North Carolina.
In June 1992, the center started providing services to deaf and hard of hearing individuals, to which individuals from all of North Carolina's 100 counties have access.
Edwards joins Hopf & Higley
Charles C. "Chip" Edwards Jr. has joined the law firm of firm of Hopf & Higley as an associate attorney.
Edwards is a 2004 graduate of the Campbell University law school and a 2001 graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in chemical engineering. He was previously associated with the Barber & Wilson law firm in Greenville.
At Hopf & Higley, Edwards will assist in a variety of civil litigation. The firm handles complex and specialized civil litigation across the state, concentrating on cases related to environmental contamination and pollution, construction defects, shareholder disputes, condemnation and property issues, serious personal injury and business related issues.

Hilton Greenville recognizes Daniel
Phillis Daniel has been named May Employee of the Month at the Hilton Greenville on Greenville Boulevard. Daniel has been a steward in Christinne's restaurant since October.
Edwards earns certification
Bill Edwards recently completed the requirements and passed the state exam for Collection System Operator Grade I.
This certification is issued by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR).
Edwards is a water/sewer engineering assistant with Greenville Utilities.
