Ayden Mayor Steve Tripp was returned to a fifth term in office, defeating, challenger Phyllis P. Ross, according to unofficial election results.

Among Ayden’s five wards, two seats had contested races.

In Ward 1, Ivory Mewborn defeated incumbent Louise Hemby Pritchard. Janis D. Suggs came in third.
