Nearly 600 arrested at latest ICE raid
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement updated the tally of people arrested at a large immigration raid in Laurel, Miss.
According to various press reports, most of the 106 were parents of small children and were given ankle bracelets and told to appear in court at a later date.
The “enforcement action is part of ICE’s ongoing nationwide effort to shut down the employment magnet fueling illegal immigration,” said Michael A. Holt, ICE Special Agent in Charge of the Office of Investigations in New Orleans.
The illegal immigrants were from various countries including Germany, Peru, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Honduras and Brazil.
The raid is the latest in a string of enforcement efforts that have sparked criticism from Hispanic groups, immigrant advocates and civil liberties organizations.
Douglas Rivilin, a spokesman for the National Immigration Forum, said that the Laurel raid was “a man-made disaster on another small town’s workers and families.”
“Churches, legal services groups, and humanitarian organizations have already sprung into action to address the human costs in terms of children left without a parent, breadwinners plucked from their jobs, limited access to lawyers and truncated due process for detainees,” he said, in a statement.
Meanwhile, supporters of stronger immigration controls applauded the raid.
“The driving force behind illegal immigration is illegal employment. Anyone that knowingly violates our immigration laws is subject to the consequences of our enforcement actions,” said Rep. Brian Bilbray, chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus.

I believe the American taxpayers are fed up with the suckling of these ILLEGAL ALIENS. Just sucking us dry from the BILLIONS upon BILLIONS sent out of this Country every year, not to mention the BILLIONS upon BILLIONS the ILLEGAL ALIENS and their ANCHORS suck up every year. This must end now or we will soon be bankrupt and this beautiful Country will become a third world country.
Yes, get the ILLEGAL ALIENS out of this Country and back to their own country where they belong. THEY DON’T BELONG HERE!

Big thumbs up for at least doing something. Now let’s pick up the pace and start doing at least one a week. They need to quit coddling the business owners, they knew. Give them a lie detector test. If I break the speed limit law, they do not let me off the hook by saying I didn’t know.
Let’s try this, handcuffing the business owner and management and take them down with the illegals, you don’t have to charge them right away, just make it inconvenient and keep them over night. Give them a real how you liking it now moment.

They need to go - and no sympathy for those with anchor babies. Those with children have been given ankle bracelets and those in their teens are being put into some type assimilation programs. What is this about? Deport them, illegal is illegal. And anchor babies - the parents can take them back to mexico or they can return to mexico without them. This situation is insane. These third world people with their diseases and their drain on our society and our culture are taking advantage of our humanity and it needs to stop now.
The latest - a “medical worker” in a birthing unit at a border hospital has tb and is suspected of infecting houndreds of newborns not to mention hospital staff, etc. When is this madness going to stop?

I heard that when ICE came in and put them under arrest, the legal employees applauded. Yeah, proud Americans. But why haven’t the employers been arrested? These are union jobs yet. I am glad they were arrested and I hope the message gets to each and every town and city throughout our country - we need to take our jobs and taxes back and get these parasites out of here.

If you believe we can deport or otherwise get rid of 12 million people, 7 million or more in the work force or about 1 in 20 US workers, then you are smoking something. We need to fix this, but mass deportation or even 600 at a time is a waste of your money and mine and just a press stunt by the gov’t trying to look like they’re doing something.

This case is unusual in that union leaders have been supporting illegals because they make docile supporters. But in this case the illegals refused to join the local union and the local union turned them in. Isn’t this pretty much the same as a company that calls INS just about payday hoping for a raid so they won’t have to pay their illegals?
And think, unions are trying to increase their numbers by changing the way workers vote…unions don’t want the secret ballot anymore, they want it out in the open where they can threaten workers who don’t vote for a union. This raid should put everyone on notice about union folks….you either join or face the consequences.

I think that if illegal immigrants and commiting offenses in the US the POLICE should give them one chance and if it doesnt work then out they go. But i also think its a waist of money sending them back when we all know they find a way to keep coming back.By the way illegal immigrants work with fake social security numbers and they stil pay taxes if they work and when they shop!!! So we cant say they dont pay taxes. And they also work very hard, well some just like SOME US Citizens
