Belk's Charity Sale on Saturday will benefit local charities, schools and nonprofit organizations throughout the company's 16-state market area. Belk's previous Charity Sale, held on May 2, raised more than $5 million for hundreds of participating nonprofit organizations.
The four-hour, in-store event provides a chance for customers to support charities and take advantage of special discounts on purchases. In exchange for a $5 donation, customers receive a ticket admitting them to the Charity Sale from 6-10 a.m. and entitling them to merchandise discounts ranging from 15 to 50 percent on purchases, including special savings on rarely discounted brands.
Customers also receive $5 off their first purchase of $5 or more, and Belk cardholders will receive double Rewards points for card purchases.
Participating local charities will sell the Charity Sale tickets in advance, and all proceeds from each $5 ticket sold will be retained by the charity. Tickets may also be purchased at Belk stores with all donations equally divided among the participating charities and schools in each store.
Participating customers can register to win one of three $1,000 Belk shopping sprees, and all participating charities and schools will be registered to win one of three $1,000 donations from Belk.
