While effects linger from the recent recession, there are good jobs and competitive wages available in Pitt County for those willing to add skills and match their development to the trending employment market, experts said last week.

Last week ended with some good news on the jobs front. Some 70,000 more jobs than predicted were added nationwide during February, bringing the country’s average unemployment rate to a 6-year low at 7 percent. The work force remains, however, very much in recovery.

“The recession officially ended in 2011, but the recovery has been very slow,” Wanda Yuhas, director of the Pitt County Development Commission, said.
