First Bank names advisory board members

First Bank recently announced the election of Brad Davis, Andrew Fisher, Alma Lamm Friedman, Al Gerard, Ranee Singleton Holbrook, Jay D. “Rocky” Jacobs, Charlie Manning, Terry Smithwick, Rep. Arthur Williams and William “Bill” Zachmanto to its local advisory board in Beaufort County.
The local advisory board acts as a liaison for First Bank and the local community. First Bank operates four branches in the area and has 78 full-service branches in North Carolina, with a total of 93 branches serving communities in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Davis has 22 years of banking and management experience and 17 years of commercial lending experience. A native of Columbia, S.C., he joined Cooperative Bank in 2000 and serves as area executive for First Bank.
Fisher has worked in the real estate profession for nearly 40 years and is a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Towne Point Realty and a broker-in-charge with Anchor Realty and Property Management, Inc.
Lamm Friedman is co-owner with her husband of Friedman Properties Inc., a commercial and residential leasing and development corporation with offices in Washington and Wilmington, Del. The Friedmans also are owners and developers of the Pamlico Bluffs subdivision in Chocowinity and the Moss Landing Waterfront development project.
Gerard has been involved in agriculture, real estate and environmental permitting for more than 30 years and works as a field operations manager for the Pamlico County Water Department. Along with a real estate broker’s license, he holds operator certifications in water and wastewater and runs an environmental management business that oversees the operation and records of water and wastewater systems.
Holbrook is a principal at the law firm of Carter, Archie, Hassell & Holbrook LLP. She began her career as an insurance defense attorney in Raleigh and has worked with the attorney general’s office of the North Carolina Department of Justice. Holbrook was appointed as General Counsel for the North Carolina Department of Justice, where she served for two years.
Jacobs is a native of Detroit and has served more than 40 years in education as an administrator and coach. After retiring, he served as a special assistant to the superintendent of public instructions for the Commonwealth of Virginia and formed a human resources consulting firm, TBR & Associates. He is president of the board of trustees of Pungo District Hospital.
Manning is a licensed professional engineer and works as the Coastal Division manager for S.T. Wooten Corp., a highway and commercial construction company in Wilson.
Smithwick is president and CEO of Park Boat Co., a position he has held for more than 35 years. He also is the managing partner of the real estate development companies Smithwick Partners LLC, Simmons Bluff Inc., Ocracoke Partners LLC, Grav/Wick Development Co., Smithwick Enterprises LLC and AshMaTau LLC.
Williams, a Washington native, is serving his fourth term in the North Carolina General Assembly. He represents the state’s 6th House District, which includes Beaufort and Pitt counties.
Zachman is a practicing CPA and has more than 40 years of professional expertise focused in financial and tax planning and tax compliance for businesses and individuals. As an entrepreneur, he has owned various companies, including an international feature film production company, two meatpacking plants, a tobacco auction warehouse and an air charter and taxi company.
First Bancorp is a bank holding company headquartered in Troy with total assets of approximately $3.6 billion. Its principal activity is the ownership and operation of First Bank, a state-chartered community bank that operates 93 branches, with 78 branches operating in the central piedmont and coastal regions of North Carolina, 10 branches in South Carolina and five branches in Virginia, where First Bank does business as First Bank of Virginia.
